Valencia, Spain - Maximiliano Spósito , a talented young tenor, will make his debut in Portugal during the Óbidos Opera Festival . Originally from Argentina, Max, as he prefers to be called, is paving his way towards recognition in Europe.

Born in Córdoba, Argentina, Maximiliano Spósito began his professional career at the age of 12, singing at formal events for social organizations and for the Congress of the Province of Córdoba. His exceptional talent caught the attention of the renowned musicologist, clavecinist and director of the historicist ensemble Harmonia del Parnàs , Marian Rosa Montagut , who soon recognized the young tenor's potential:

"His ability to move and captivate comes from within, from how he feels the music, from how he makes it his own. His presence on stage is immense and his passion overflows. These qualities, combined with his remarkable capacity for work and humility - which I was able to find out later, knowing not only the singer, but also the person - they make him a true promising talent."

Now, the young tenor is preparing to participate in the Recital , scheduled to take place on September 14th, at 5:30 pm, at the Abílio de Mattos e Silva Museum, at the Óbidos Opera Festival. There, he will perform the arias:

  • " 4 Canzoni d'Amaranta: L'alba sepàra dalla luce l'ombra ", by Paolo Tosti;

  • " Doña Francisquita: Por el humo se não dende está el fuego ", by Amadeu Vives;

  • " La Fille du Régiment: Ah! mes amis, quel jour de fête! " and " L'Elisir d'Amore: “Caro elisir! sei mio!... Esulti pur la barbara!” , both by Gaetano Donizetti, and in the last one he shares the stage with soprano Bárbara Barradas;

  • " La Traviata: Libiamo… ", by Giuseppe Verdi, where he shares the presence with Bárbara Barradas, Ashley Chui, Luís Rendas Pereira and Pedro Lopes (piano).

André Cunha Leal , founder of ProART and Artistic Director of the Óbidos Opera Festival, speaks enthusiastically that:

"It's incredible to be able to promote and witness the development of young talents, as we believe in the power of art to transform lives. We look forward to following the bright future of Maximiliano and other young artists, this is one of the greatest rewards for all of us at ProART. "

The interview with Max, carried out by Fernando Santos ( FS ), allows us to learn a little more about this young promise for the world of music.

FS: Hello! Who is Maximiliano Spósito, the young tenor who makes his debut at the Óbidos Opera Festival, and how did his career as a singer begin?

Max : Hello! My full name is Maximiliano Jeremías Spósito, I'm from Argentina and I'm a tenor. From a very young age, at the age of 5, I started singing kindergarten songs. My teachers noticed that I participated a lot in class and that I really liked singing. I knew all the songs by heart and sang them with enthusiasm. So they informed my family and decided to sign me up for private singing lessons. However, at that time I was very young and perhaps I didn't take advantage of it enough. It was only when I was 11 that I took my first lesson at a Singing Academy in the city of Córdoba, where I'm from, and it was there that I discovered that I really liked lyrical music.

FS: It's interesting to see that the inclination towards music can start so early... And who were the singers who most influenced your musical development?

Max: Since I was a child, when I visited my grandparents on the weekends, they had a collection of orchestral music records and some singers like Pavarotti. I spent hours on the couch in my grandparents' living room listening to the vinyl records that they took out of the closet and cleaned because they had been stored for too long. I listened to hours and hours of Pavarotti. He was one of my biggest encouragers to enter the world of lyrical music and love it deeply. Maria Callas is also another of my great references. I spent many hours of my adolescence listening to these great artists. They are the pillars that pushed me to become a tenor.

FS: It’s great to have such inspiring musical references! And what have been the biggest challenges you have faced in your career so far?

Max: One of my biggest challenges was preparing for my first role in an opera, which was the role of Ferrando in "Cosi fan tutte". I remember that an opera company was looking for singers to perform this opera and I decided to give it a try. At first, I thought it would be easy, but as time passed, I realized the complexity of preparing a role, not only musically, but also psychologically, delving into the character's mind and emotions. It was a time that I remember with great affection, I made great friends in that production and it was a great success in Córdoba. It was an experience that taught me a lot and gave me a solid foundation for my career as a lyrical singer.

FS: What was your first big achievement, something you are proud of?

Max : A big achievement was getting into the Palau de Les Arts. Preparing for the audition required a lot of love, dedication and hours of study. I have currently been a part of their enrichment program for a year, and the lessons I have received, not only musically, but also personally, will stay in my heart and mind forever. Crossing the ocean to follow my dreams was a bold and courageous decision, especially being far from my family. But it's also something I'm very proud of.

FS: It's admirable to see your dedication in pursuing your dreams. And what are your expectations and goals for the next few years of your career?

Max: Mainly, I want to learn a lot. I want to be with the great names in current lyrical music, immerse myself in this wonderful world. I know it's not easy to establish yourself as a tenor soloist, but I'm dedicating all my energy and intentions to it. I want to sing, it's something I learned from a very young age. I believe that opera singers must be willing to communicate feelings that do not belong to us and connect deeply with the audience. My goal is to grow as an artist and play leading roles in renowned opera theaters around the world. I would also like to explore other musical genres and collaborate with artists of different styles. I want to continue to grow, learn and share my passion for music with the public. In short, my main goal is to become a recognized lyrical singer and leave my mark in the world of music.
